Yes, it is very suspicious. The claim is servers are down but it happens so often. They no longer have a full-time sysadmin so is it breaking because that's how the server company and sysadmin make money? Dont know

It is also interesting that someone wrote a huge criticism about the site on the weekend at the forum and then it crashes.

Are these things happening to get people to lose confidence and quit?

Are they about to enter the 90% club? Undecided

And why does it take a week to fix these things? Do they not back up their files nightly? I doubt it is a new thing breaking every time. I think there is something they aren't telling us

As for that there are numerous things that could break with a huge database like theirs.

However there are also numerous things they can do to prevent these breaks..

They can always use cloud or mirror servers that can be used in emergency cases.
This is a process that does not take longer than a few hours to complete.

2-3 days of downtime in such a large scale site, even worse the whole network, is more or less unacceptable.. Undecided

If Amazon has taken notice of paidverts, that might not be a good thing.

Kind of like not a good thing in a Paypal kind of way.

Once these greedy corps. smell money or money potential it is like keeping wolves away from a chicken house.

We might want to play a little more defensively regarding the MTV group of sites going forward. Sad

As soon as I have any new information, I'll keep you updated. Also once we do get back, we've got our system admin & lead programmer on standby, to get started on some of that tech cleanup we were mentioning for a while as soon as possible, that would ensure much better stability going forward, and also allow us to reduce our server costs further.

That is pretty good though. We are burning about 100k per year. At the BAP market rate that $500K is only worth 185k. If we could convince them to put some of their earnings into buying BAP back at the BAP market rate that debt would go down a lot quicker.
